Clearwell Castle Wedding. Matthew and Lyndsey
December 16th, 2011
About 6 months ago, I had an interesting wedding request.
Lyndsey (today’s bride) wanted a photographer to shoot her wedding in 2 weeks time. I’m pretty sure that’s a record.
A friend who was a lung specialist had been keeping an eye on Lyndsey’s Father and started putting his symptoms together. She bravely suggested that if she wants her dad to see her get married, she should think about getting married very soon.
Matthew and Lyndsey’s day was everything you’d want from a wedding really. Laughter all day, kids being kids and a load of love. Of course there was generous servings of emotion served up too.
Fast forward a few weeks and I receive this text from Lyndsey.
“Ive had the worst day, shouted at my girls this morning for being pickles! Then got upset in front of a patient at work as she was telling me she has been put on the tablets that have damaged my dad’s lungs, been so so busy that left work feeling like there was still a million things I was supposed to do, ran from one end of Milton Keynes to the other in rush hour to collect girls .… Then came home and found the very special parcel you sent me.… Still crying but this time for a different reason! :-) Thank you doesn’t even touch how I feel Joseph. You have given me some amazing memories forever. There are so many that made me gasp! I love them all! Thank you x X”
This wedding in its entirety was about friends and family, with no other distractions. With just two weeks to plan a wedding, you’d think that you wouldn’t have enough time to get everything sorted but the amount of support that was offered by Matthew and Lyndsey’s family was incredible.
Hopefully you won’t have to use your imagination too much to feel the mood at this wedding.
Pease, enjoy.
loving that image of the bride cuddling the boy
Great work mate! Loved the story and the use of light for indoor shots!! M.
Wow, what an incredible coverage of this event. A fly on the wall or shall we call you Spiderman. Man you were everywhere!
I’m totally loving this wedding! So many beautiful, touching and fun moments, and you have done a great job capturing the feeling of their day. I love the photos of the kids playing in the rain, and the two BWs right after them. So many faves!
This is beautiful and so well documented. I’d love to be a kid at such a wedding..
your lighting and compositions are incredible! so many favorites in this post.
You caught perfect light in so many images, you have incredible skills.
The rain photos are so perfect.

Wow..it’s just GORGEOUS…I’m in love with this wedding. You really took me there, know what I mean? Well done!!
Incredible work. So many beautifully-told moments. She has got to be flipping over the long black and white of her holding the little girl. Kids jumping in the rain — ridiculous.
Oh wow I love the story of this day! Some amazing moments with the children. The boy in the rain!
another wow — lots and lots of emotion at this one and you have captured it perfectly with your use of light and contrast. There were occasions looking at these where I thought I had some dust in my eye…
Thank you for sharing!
Love the contrasty style you have going here, also the image of the child jumping is priceless.
Incredible wedding and location ! Beautiful job telling their wedding story.
Wonderfully human work.
Bravo!
Great photographs Joseph! especially considering the difficult conditions with the fast dropping light.… I can’t wait for the summer again!!
