Bristol Zoo Wedding Photographer. Michael & Rachael

October 26th, 2010

A little while ago, I received a phone call from a lady with an incredible voice. Hints of English, Irish, Italian and French.
The lady was a certain Anna Debenedictis, a wedding, child and portrait photographer now based in Ireland
The good news was that she was due to give birth any day soon, the bad news was that she was due to cover Michael and Rachael’s wedding but knew that there was a risk she could pop on their wedding day.
Cue the Mighty Mouse theme song!

So I met up with Michael and Rachael, had an engagement shoot with them, and a little while later I shot their wedding at the amazing Bristol Zoo.
By the way, you can view their engagement pictures a little later…
The zoo was an incredible place for Michael and Rachael to have their wedding. So many opportunities for amazing pictures as I’m sure you can imagine.
With it being England, it rained of course and with me only shooting for a couple of hours we were a little rushed, but we still had a great time.
It turned out to be a really intimate day that was all about family.
I would of love to of stayed around for longer as as usual, I was in my element.

Congratulations Michael and Rachael, you were an absolute pleasure.
Enjoy the pictures!

You are such a great photographer Joseph! You can tell that M & R are so relaxed in front of the camera. The shot in front of the bamboo is a real standout image for me. Fantastic work.

  3. Alexander Gardner October 27th, 2010 at 10:36 am

Wonderful! Rachael looking back at you before her walk down the isle is just all sorts of cool. :)

  4. Phill October 27th, 2010 at 1:30 pm

Just a couple of hours? You’ve told a timeless story. Fantastic work as ever Joseph, with image after image that speaks so clearly on its own.

  5. Mark Kalkwarf October 27th, 2010 at 1:39 pm

Some fantastic images here. Love the black and white shot of the B&G resting their heads against one another. Lighting and mood is amazing, very well done.

  6. Neale James October 27th, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Well, some mutual appreciation here Joseph! Love it. That black and white with the trees behind, the portrait, SUPERB!

  7. Ryan Brenizer October 27th, 2010 at 3:13 pm

What a lovely smile. Great job, I particularly love the sequence of her breathing deeply. Fraught with anticipation, captures the feeling of the moment.

Well, you managed to cram an awful lot of good work in to a couple of hours!! I’d love to cover a wedding at Chester Zoo — maybe next year!

  9. Becca October 27th, 2010 at 4:13 pm

My favorites are the two of her taking the deep breath in and then exhaling. I get butterflies in my stomach for her because I know that exact moment and it’s amazing.

The one of her in the bamboo leaves is also stunning :)

Beautiful set. The portrait of the bride in the Bamboo is stunning.

A truly handsome couple. Great job incorporating cool details from the day/location into the set. Really good compositions here!

  13. Heather Parker October 27th, 2010 at 7:35 pm

I love your clean crisp detail shots rich with color.

  14. Nessa K October 27th, 2010 at 7:57 pm

This entire wedding is beautiful, but hands down, the photo of the bride standing in front of the bamboo belongs in a magazine. Really gorgeous work. =)

  15. Magan Blasig October 27th, 2010 at 10:12 pm

I completely agree with Nessa. Gorgeous wedding, and love that bamboo shot!! Gorgeous!!

I love the black and white of her looking back at you, about to enter the ceremony. Awesome shot!

Amazing photos, love the one of the bride in the bamboo! Where did she get the gorgrous bolero?!?

  21. Claire November 8th, 2010 at 10:47 pm

Fantastic! I’ve missed your blog over the last couple of months… time to catch up. Love the mirror, the bamboo and all the faces — and yay for Mighty Mouse while we’re at it. Nice one!
