Wedding! Adam and Lorna nr. Dudley

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Saturday the 3rd of this month saw Adam and Lorna get married, just outside Dudley.

As I mentioned in my last post I met up with Lorna and Adam just a couple of weeks before the wedding and really took a shine to them; they're a wonderful couple! Guests and friends will know just how awesome these two are.

In fact I was talking with another couple who are equally awesome... (I will blog about them soon, you'll love them)...I was explaining that as the majority of my couples are very similar, I'd love to arrange some kind of shindig/rave/tea party.
Of course, this won't happen, it'll be a little weird.
But naturally, Adam and Lorna would be there swapping hilarious and flattering anecdotes about their photographer! I'd be presented with an expensive bottle of single malt and then be asked to give a speech.
I'm joking of course...but seriously...

I met up with Lorna at her parents house which was a 2 minute walk to the church where she'd be marrying Adam.
After the ceremony, Adam and Lorna joined their lovely guests at the family run Dunsley Hall in Kinver where they were greeted by the wonderful and accommodating staff.

Adam and Lorna, thank you so much for making me feel welcome throughout the whole day. I enjoyed every part of your wedding and I could tell that you and your guests did too.
Enjoy the pictures and as usual, share, tweet and comment.

Stuart, Lorna's brother refused to see Lorna in her wedding dress before the ceremony.

Lorna's mum had Orchids everywhere. Everywhere!!
wpid2732-Adam-and-Lorna-6.jpg
Lorna's Nan, Ivy was all up for seeing Lorna before the ceremony, I don't think Lorna had much say in the matter!
wpid2734-Adam-and-Lorna-7.jpg
Here she is!
wpid2736-Adam-and-Lorna-8.jpg
Here's the Groom. I don't want to say that he was running late, but...
wpid2738-Adam-and-Lorna-9.jpg
A small selection of Adam's important men.

I also find hymn books hilarious.
wpid2744-Adam-and-Lorna-12.jpg
Nervous much Adam?

Unfortunately, we were allowed to take very few images during the ceremony, so make sure you watch the flipbook version of Adam and Lorna's wedding here.

I'm very fond of this funny little shot.
wpid2786-Adam-and-Lorna-33.jpg
And then on to Dunsley Hall in Kinver, and personally greeted by the manager and general nice-guy, Wilf.
wpid2788-Adam-and-Lorna-34.jpg
I almost feel like I don't even need to tell you this, but here is "The Heckler".
He did a great job of contributing to the speeches...and calling me Harry Potter.
Look at those eyes, you can see his brain working and trying to find a way of making me crack.

Speeches time. Lorna's Dad's speech was very special.
wpid2816-Adam-and-Lorna-48.jpg
Hi Adam!
wpid2818-Adam-and-Lorna-49.jpg
wpid2820-Adam-and-Lorna-50.jpg
After lulling the guests into a false sense of security with childhood stories about paper aeroplanes with matches selotaped to them, Joe, Adam's Best Man, proceeded to individually and thoroughly mock all the other ushers using a pointy device. No need for that at all. But it was hilarious!
wpid2822-Adam-and-Lorna-51.jpg
This has been added to my growing pile of "Favorite pictures"
wpid2824-Adam-and-Lorna-52.jpg

wpid2832-Adam-and-Lorna-56.jpg
And here is the beautiful Bride.
wpid2834-Adam-and-Lorna-57.jpg
I think Lorna's eyes are incredible in this picture. A super cool couple.

Lovely stuff!
I loved shooting your wedding Lorna and Adam, and I really enjoyed editing and blogging too.
You both made Jessica and myself feel so welcome and we really appreciated it!
Thank you also to the staff at Dunsley Hall in Kinver, you were excellent!
Also, you might notice that there are none of my usual grammatical mistakes in this post and Mr Phill Allen is to thank for that!

Best of 2009

Monday, January 4th, 2010

So I'm a little late posting this, I know, I'm sorry about that.

I've loved 2009, I've met some incredible people, learnt some good lessons, ate some wonderful food, attempted to dance with the best dancers to the worst and best music, seen some incredible bands and taken some killer pictures.

I can't wait to get wait to shoot my first wedding of 0'10.
It already promises to be an even more successful year than '09.

Thank you to all my brides and grooms who have chosen me over other photographers, I've really enjoyed meeting you all and getting to know you.
We've had fun.

And finally, thank you to my amazing wife. None of this would of been possible.
You really have no idea how patient she is with me!

Enjoy my look back at 09.

First, I shot our close friends, the Hornby's as an anniversary present for their parents.
Gorgeous weather in Bristol on that day!
Look out for Sabrina, she's just booked me for her wedding this year!

Mark and Laura are a wonderful couple, I loved shooting them.

This is my brother Phil, and his wife, Hannah.
They're allot of fun and awesome family to have.
This shoot was a little embarrassing for me as I had to tell my brother how to kiss photogenically! Mmmm!

Then came a really great wedding!
Ian and Grace
This by far though was one of my favorite ever bride portraits.
(I was also very pleased with the edit!)

Bianca and Jimmy came next, I did an engagement shoot with them in Knighton. For those who don't know where Knighton is, it's no where near anything.
Bianca and Jimmy are great friends of ours, I was really looking forward to shooting their wedding!

I did a few child portraits around Bristol, mostly in the Ashton court grounds.

A great wedding, and a beautiful bride.

By Far, my favorite groomsmen portrait of '09.
I would never usually edit an image like this, but with such awesome faces, I had to push it to the extreme.
Without the expressions, this picture would be a flop.
FYI, I had a bride book me because of this picture.
Blog-17
Right, I've been looking forward to posting this one. For sure, a favorite engagement shoot. This was text book.
1) Luke and Jasmine both put allot of effort into looking good for their shoot.
2) Both start the shoot quite nervous.
3) But, chose some great locations with personal attachments
4) Light was perfect
5) Did a little trespassing
6) By the end of the shoot, I'm sure Luke and Jasmine forgot I was taking pictures, they felt so relaxed.
7) Shot roughly the same amount of images on this shoot as what I do at an average wedding.

Looking forward to doing a few more baby shoots this year.

Great looking couple.
Awesome locations.
Both started off nervous.
Ended up dancing by the end.
True story
Blog-39
A few weeks before, I had been inspired to change my equipment to make my pictures better.
This part of the shoot was at dusk... well into dusk actually. This was shot with totally natural flash.
I was nervous about changing my equipment, but shots like this made me confident that I had made the right choice.
Blog-40
I'll keep this one short and sweet.
I was contacted by this lady, she asked me to take some pictures of her and her husband in their wedding attire for the wedding anniversary.
Sure, no problem at all, but why?
She was so disappointed in her images that she had to have them done again.
I hear this sort of things very often.
Do not book a photographer that you're not sure about.
I personally know people who have cried because their wedding pictures were appalling.
Your wedding pictures are one of the only things left from your wedding, so don't mess around.
Anyway!...
This shoot was allot of fun!

Strictly speaking, I didn't take these pictures. Jessica did, so although I set up the lighting and camera, she takes full credit for the shots.
Unfortunately, she doesn't plan on taking any more shots as she doesn't think she's good enough! Crazy I know, but I think we'll do a few baby shoots together, with Jessica entertaining and assisting!

On my way up to this wedding, I got an email from the WPJA saying that they wanted me to join their organisation.

Wedding! Nathan and Victoria in Stafford

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

I'm at a great moment in my life at the moment where a lot of my close friends are getting married.
Bianca and Jimmy along with Jasmine and Luke to name just two!

Shooting a friends wedding is often very easy, the couple are already comfortable in front of me, and if they're comfortable in front of me, chances are, I've had my camera in their face before!
Sometimes though, I feel like I'd rather just sit back and enjoy the wedding day without having to take pictures professionally.

A few weekends back, my second oldest friend got married. Nathan.
Nathan has an incredible infectious quality. His laugh and smile really light up the room, and I think you'll notice some pretty incredible facial expressions on this post which I'm 100% sure are all down to him! He's also a real hugger. He really gets right in there and almost breaks your bones, its great!!

At first, I went from wanting to be the only person who could take their pictures, to then deciding that actually I just want to enjoy the day, but they twisted my arm and here you are, reading the blog with their wedding pictures in!
(in all fairness, even if I wasn't the photographer, they'd still be pictures from the wedding up on here!)

They had a very relaxed but traditional wedding in Stafford, and then onto the village of Fulford for their reception where there was eating, drinking,  and general getting on down.

As this was yet another friends wedding, you'll probably see some familiar faces in here.
Enjoy, and if you were there, or even if you weren't, then please leave a comment, I get a little thrill when someone leaves one!
(Jess doesn't let me out much) (She also beats me)
