Actually, Brenden and Emmy already are married, the title was more for effect to be honest.
They chose the Bath Priory for their wedding; a beautiful venue that suited these two perfectly.
They had an amazing day, so I urge you to keep an eye out for their pictures on the blog soon.
A few of their pictures can be found on my obligatory end of 2011 post found here.
We had a little jolly around Bath and took some pictures. We had a nice time, but nothing special really, unlike the two of them.

Clearwell Castle Wedding. Matthew and Lyndsey

About 6 months ago, I had an interesting wedding request.
Lyndsey (today's bride) wanted a photographer to shoot her wedding in 2 weeks time. I'm pretty sure that's a record.
A friend who was a lung specialist had been keeping an eye on Lyndsey's Father and started putting his symptoms together. She bravely suggested that if she wants her dad to see her get married, she should think about getting married very soon.

Matthew and Lyndsey's day was everything you'd want from a wedding really. Laughter all day, kids being kids and a load of love. Of course there was generous servings of emotion served up too.

Fast forward a few weeks and I receive this text from Lyndsey.

"Ive had the worst day, shouted at my girls this morning for being pickles! Then got upset in front of a patient at work as she was telling me she has been put on the tablets that have damaged my dad's lungs, been so so busy that left work feeling like there was still a million things I was supposed to do, ran from one end of Milton Keynes to the other in rush hour to collect girls . . . . Then came home and found the very special parcel you sent me. . . . Still crying but this time for a different reason! :-) Thank you doesn't even touch how I feel Joseph. You have given me some amazing memories forever. There are so many that made me gasp! I love them all! Thank you x X"

This wedding in its entirety was about friends and family, with no other distractions. With just two weeks to plan a wedding, you'd think that you wouldn't have enough time to get everything sorted but the amount of support that was offered by Matthew and Lyndsey's family was incredible.

Hopefully you won't have to use your imagination too much to feel the mood at this wedding.

Clearwell Castle Wedding

Matthew and Lyndsey chose Clearwell Castle as their wedding venue earlier this year.
This was quite an important wedding for me and I'll try to explain in my next post which will feature their whole wedding.
To keep things quick though, Matthew and Lyndsey had a beautiful day with weather that would make Michael Fish smile, very English.
(For the Americans that read my blog, "very English" usually means: Pretty terrible with short periods of "quite nice")
It turned out to be a very emotional day, full of surprises.
I loved it.

Wedding season hasn't quite calmed down for me yet, I still have two left this month. One at Priston Mill and also one at Mottram Hall. Both couples are lovely, of course!
I was at Priston Mill last winter for Ian and Lucy's wedding and snow was a major issue, it was a great wedding though!
Let's hope we have a sensible amount of snow without any risk attached to it this year.

Hampshire Wedding. Tom & Lauren

Tom and Lauren then...
Although I swear by engagement shoots, sometimes one just isn't possible.
The day I met Tom and Lauren happened to be the day that they got married. Coincidence, I'm sure.
No, it's not how I usually do things at all but this wasn't a usual wedding.
[Disclaimer: None of Joseph Yarrow's weddings are usual.]
Tom and Lauren are both Jehovah's Witnesses and chose to get married at the Kingdom hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Brookwood, Surrey.
Typically, I'm not a fan of shooting in Kingdom halls. Not because I'm opposed to the Witnesses' teachings (You might know that I'm one myself) but because the Kingdom halls are very basic buildings with few windows letting in natural light. Brookwood Kingdom hall was a complete exception. Windows everywhere! I was in photographer heaven (Another disclaimer: Jehovah's witnesses do not believe in "photographer heaven")
On to the wedding reception; if I was spoilt by the Kingdom Hall, the wedding reception was like being kicked in the shins.
The Cross Barn at Odiham in Hampshire is a beautiful barn based building but lacked any natural lighting worthy of making me smile. Still, this obviously didn't dampen the mood of the day, and I doubt anyone noticed the light. Just me. Miserable old me.

Tom and Lauren went for an afternoon tea theme with some fantastic sandwiches, scones with jam and proper cream, old fashioned fizzy drinks in glass bottles, a sweet bar, and lots and lots of beautiful flowers and amazing crockery and other little details.
The mood of the day was fantastic and of course I wasn't really a grumpy so-and-so. I was just so spoilt!
It was actually a brilliant day filled with laughter, moving moments, VW campers and Beatles and making of new friends.
So thank you for having me Tom and Lauren.

Pickwell Manor Wedding. Kat & James

Before I post my next wedding, I just wanted to share a picture.
Kat and Jimbo were married at Pickwell manor down in Devon earlier this year.
Based purely on school holiday locations, I'm personally a Cornwall sorta person. Jessica is the one with Devon in her heart, So she was thrilled when we decided to make a weekend of this visit.

I thought I'd share just one image from their very hot wedding. They got married outside and had an amazing day.
I've got so much to share with you all on my blog, so you'll see their engagement shoot long before their wedding.

This picture was taken in the morning just as Kat's mum was helping her with the dress.
The curtain was closed because the view outside, along with the rolling Devonshire landscape, was of the wedding guests sitting outside soaking up the sun and waiting for Kat to arrive.
The only light source in the room was just enough to highlight the figures of some of the most important people in Kat's life at a very important moment.

This really was a brilliant and beautiful wedding in a stunning location that I would love to shoot at again.
Look out for their wedding pictures in about 20 years time when I catch up with blogging.

Bristol Wedding Photographer. Glassboat Restaurant

So as promised, Chris and Nicolette's wedding.
A very intimate affair, in fact it was one of my smallest at that time. They weddings really are a load of fun, nothing lacks.
A smaller wedding party has its good points and bad points for me;
People tend to stick together rather than wander off like they do in big castle venues... (good)
But, you tend to stick out more because everybody knows that you're the wedding photographer only because you're not family...and I don't wear a fascinator. (bad, followed by good)
I however felt totally comfortable during their ever-so relaxed day.
Chris and Nicolette got married at the Bristol Registry Office in one of my favourite parts of the city, and then on to the reception for drinks and singing at the Glassboat Restaurant. Nic and Chris drove, I walked. That's how close it was. 5 minutes at most. Perfect.
The restaurant was a great spot for a wedding reception. A well stocked bar, right in the middle of the city but something a little bit different from a hotel. Very classic. Also, it was a boat!
So many nice moments from this wedding and after selecting the final set of images for this post, only now am I aware of my obsession of pictures of people taking pictures.

Please, just promise not to count them!

The Groom’s Secret Tape.

TJ and Alison's wedding from earlier this year. Just a little teaser.
Many moons ago, TJ and his best friend, Alex recorded a radio show, as you do.
Even when they were kids, Alex knew that one day he would be TJ's best man so he held on to that dreaded radio show on tape for many years.
Look out out for TJ's head buried in his hands in a later blog...

Lacock Wedding Photographer. Chris & Nic are getting married!

Chris and Nic got married in Bristol earlier this year, but before then we had a day out in Lacock (the birthplace of photography, thank goodness!)
